Creeks Softball Association
Player Grading/Evaluations:

Evaluations are NOT tryouts.  All girls will be placed on a team.
The girls are given the chance to demonstrate their softball abilities.  Graders
score each girl in the areas of batting, running, fielding (pop-ups and ground
balls), and throwing.  These scores are used during the coach's draft in order to
make the teams as equal as possible.

What to Bring to Grading:  Girls are required to have their own glove and cleats.
Helmets and bats are optional for players to purchase.  There will be helmets and
bats available for girls to use.

Hitting: The player evaluation begins by attempting to hit a designated number of
balls from a pitching machine.  The player must wear a helmet and a helmet will
be provided if the girl does not personally have her own.  Power, bat speed, and
contact are all evaluated by the graders.

Base Running: On the final pitch, the batter will run from home plate to second
base.  The evaluators will be watching for speed and form from the girls.

Fielding and Throwing: The player will receive a designated number of ground
balls and pop-flus to field and throw to a first baseman.

If a player has previously pitched or professes an interest in
pitching, they will be evaluated at the beginning of grading on
their pitching skills.  (10U and above)
